Limits

Google reports rounded monthly search volumes, and very small volumes show as 10 or nothing, so small states and rare queries are noisy. Google may group close variants of a query. Search volume measures interest, not transactions. Brand-qualified queries capture fewer searches than bare color names, so colors with ambiguous names are undercounted relative to others. The list covers widely used named colors, not every paint on the market. Searches about painting specifically before a sale are rare (about 73 a month nationally for the phrases we tested), so this study measures paint color interest overall.
